Rectangle Properties

Rectangle Properties are one of the most important topics in exams. Competitive exams are all about time. If you know how to manage time then you will surely do great in your exam. Most of us skip that part. Few examples on rectangle shortcuts is given in this page below. These shortcut tricks cover all sorts of tricks on Rectangle. We request all visitors to read all examples carefully. You can understand shortcut tricks on Rectangle by these examples.

Before starting anything just do a math practice set. Then find out twenty math problems related to this topic and write those on a paper. Do first ten maths using basic formula of this math topic. You also need to keep track of Timing. After solving all ten math questions write down total time taken by you to solve those questions. Now practice our shortcut tricks on rectangle and read examples carefully. After finishing this do remaining questions using Rectangle shortcut tricks. Again keep track of the time. The timing will be surely improved this time. But this is not enough. If you need to improve your timing more then you need to practice more.

Few Important things to Remember

Math section in a competitive exam is the most important part of the exam. It doesn’t mean that other topics are not so important. But only math portion can leads you to a good score. Only practice and practice can give you a good score. You should do your math problems within time with correctness, and this can be achieved only by using shortcut tricks. But it doesn’t mean that without using shortcut tricks you can’t do any math problems. You may have that potential to do maths within time without using any shortcut tricks.

But, other peoples may not do the same. For those we prepared this rectangle shortcut tricks. We always try to put all shortcut methods of the given topic. But if you see any tricks are missing from the list then please inform us. Your little help will help others.

What is Rectangle?

A rectangle is four side of with right angle. Each side of Rectangle is equal and parallel and each angles is a 90o is called Rectangle, and its properties are  given as, Equal angle means that all of its angles are equal ( 360° / 4 = 90° ). It can also be defined as a parallelogram which has containing a right angle.

In maths exam papers there are two or three question are given from this chapter. This type of problem are given in Quantitative Aptitude which is a very essential paper in banking exam. Under below  given some more example for your better practice.

Example #1 – Rectangle Properties

Side of a square is 6 cm less than the length of a rectangle and breadth of the rectangle is 7 cm less than the side of the square. The area of the square is 324 sq.cm. What would be the area of rectangle?

  1. 264 sq.cm
  2. 282 sq.cm
  3. 302 sq.cm
  4. 328 sq.cm

Show Answer Show How to Solve Open Rough Workspace

Answer: Option (A)
How to Solve
We know that, area of the square = 324 sq.cm.
So, side of the square is,
√324
= 18 cm.

Length of the rectangle is,
18 + 6 = 24 cm.

Breadth of the rectangle is,
18 – 7 = 11 cm.

So, area of the rectangle is,
(L x B )
= 24 x 11
= 264 sq.cm.

Example #2 – Rectangle Properties

The area of a square is twice the area of a rectangle. If the area of the square is 225 sq.cm and the length of the rectangle is 12.5 cm, then what would be the difference between the breadth of the rectangle and the side of the square?

  1. 5 cm
  2. 6 cm
  3. 7 cm
  4. 8 cm

Answer: Option (B)
How to Solve
Area of the square = 225 sq.cm.
So, side of the square is,
√225
= 15 cm.

So, area of the rectangle is,
Area = (L x B )
225 = 2 x 12.5 x b
b = 9

So, the difference between the breadth of the rectangle and the side of the square is,
15 – 9
= 6 cm.

Example #3 – Rectangle Properties

A hall room has the floor which is 30 meters long and 10 meters broad. So, how many meters of cotton carpet of 75 cm wide will be required to cover the room of hall and how much amount will require to be spent on cotton carpet if available at Rs.25/- per meters?

  1. Rs.6500/-
  2. Rs.8000/-
  3. Rs.10000/-
  4. Rs.12000/-

Show Answer Show How to Solve Open Rough Workspace

Answer: Option (C)
How to Solve
Length required = ( length of room x breadth of room / width of carpet )
= ( 30 x 10 / 75 )
= 400.

Amount = rate per meter x ( length of room x breadth of room / width of carpet )
so, 25 x ( 30 x 10 / 75 )
then, 25 x 400
therefore, 10000.

Example #4 – Rectangle Properties

The area of a rectangle 18 meters 2 decimeters long and 15 meters 3 decimeters wide. What would be the area of rectangle?

  1. 249.23 sq.meter
  2. 263.43 sq.meter
  3. 278.46 sq.meter
  4. 291.53 sq.meter

Answer: Option (C)
How to Solve
Length = 18.2 meters.
Breadth = 15.3 meters.
So, the area of rectangle is,
( Length x Breadth )
= 18.2 x 15.3
= 278.46 sq.meter.
