**Time and Work Examples 1**

Some important facts are needed for Time and work Problems. If a person do a piece of work which has to be require more time to complete, and capacity is limited to that person but two or more person do the same piece of work which require less time and effort is minimum.

This examples is** two person work a piece of work in same time and find out one person alone work to complete**. So here is some example 1 of this chapter related which help you better study for job preparation.

This type of problem are given in Quantitative Aptitude which is a very essential paper in banking exam. Under below given some more example for your better practice.

**Example 1:** Anil, priyanka and Suresh together can complete a work in 20 minutes If Anil and priyanka together same work complete in 60 minutes, How many time required Suresh alone can complete that work ?

**Answer :** 1 / 20 – 1 / 60 = 30 minutes.

**Example 2:** P complete a work in 12 days and Q complete the same work in 16 days. Find required time to complete the same work together.

**Answer :** Complete work in 1 day of P is 1 / 12

Complete work in 1 day of Q is 1 / 16

Together complete work P + Q in 1 day 1 / 12 + 1 / 16 = 7 / 48

Together complete work 48 / 7 days

**Example 3**: A, B and C together can finish a work in 50 minutes, A and B together finish the same work in 60 minutes. In how many minutes can C alone finish that work ?

**Answer :** ( 1 / 50 – 1 / 60 ) = 1 / 300 minutes.

**Example 4:** A can do a piece of work in 12 days and B can do a piece of work in 4 days. Find how many days they working together to complete that work ?

**Answer :** A 1 day work = 1 / 12

B 1 day work = 1 / 4

( 1 / 12 + 1 / 4 ) = 4 / 12 = 1 / 3

they working together to complete that work in 3 days.

**Example 5:** Anil, priyanka and Suresh together can complete a work in 20 minutes If Anil and priyanka together same work complete in 60 minutes, How many time required Suresh alone can complete that work ?

**Answer :** 1 / 20 – 1 / 60 = 30 minutes.

**Example 6:** A, B and C can complete a work together in 60 minutes. A and B can complete the similar work in 80 minutes. How much minutes can C take alone to complete that work ?

**Answer:** C alone take = 1 / 60 – 1 / 80 = 240 minutes.

**Example 7:** 22 boy complete a piece of work in 32 days . In how many days will 16 boy can complete that work ?

**Answer :**

22 x 32 = 16 x d2

d2 = 22 x 32 / 16 = 44

So, In 44 days 16 man can complete that work .

**Example 8:**

20 labour can do piece of work in 30 days, then how many days 15 labour can complete double of the work ?

**Answer:**

20 labour can do a piece of work in 30 days and Now we need to find the double of the work by 15 labour.

we use

= ( labour X working days ) = ( labour X working days )

= 20 x 30 = 15 x ?

= 600 = 15 x ?

? = 600 / 15 = 40

Now we need to double the working days is 40 x 2 = 80 days.

**Example 9:** subir and kabir can do a piece of work in 20 days and 12 days respectively. subir started the work alone and then after 4 days kabir joined him till the completion of the work. How long did the work last?

**Answer :**

Step 1: In 4 days subir work done = 1 x 4 / 20 = 1 / 5. Remaining work is = ( 1 – 1 / 5 ) = 4 / 5.

Step 2: Now subir and kabir work done by 1 days = ( 1 / 20 + 1 / 12 ) = 2 / 15.

Step 3: 4 / 5 work will be done by subir and kabir = ( 15 / 2 x 4 / 5 ) = 6 days.

So, the total time taken = ( 6 + 4 ) = 10 days.

**Example 10:**

Rajib and Rajesh together can complete a piece of work in 4 days. If Rajib alone can complete the same work in 12 days, In how long days can Rajesh alone complete that work?

**Answer :**

Rajib and Rajesh can do piece of work 4 day’s, then

First we find required 1 day time and work,

( Rajib + Rajesh ) can do piece of work in 1 day’s = 1 / 4, Rajib 1 day’s work = 1 / 12.

Same work Rajesh can do in 1 day’s = ( 1 / 4 – 1 / 12 ) = 1 / 6.

So, Rajesh can alone complete the work in 6 days.

**Example 11:** 25 Women can complete a work in 15 days. How many more Women need for complete this work in 5 days.

**Answer :**

25 Women can complete a work in 15 days, Women1 x working days1 = Women2 x working days2

25 x 15 = Women2 x 5

Women2 = 375 / 5 = 75

More women need for complete this work ( 75 – 25 ) = 50.

**Example 12:** 8 boy can complete a piece of work in 40 hours. In how many hours will 20 boy complete that same piece of work ?

**Answer:** boy x hour = boy x ?

8 x 40 = 20 x ?

320 = 20 x ?

? = 320 / 20 = 16 hours

Example 9: A, B and C together can complete a work in 40 minutes. A and B together can complete the same work in 60 minutes. Find the required time that C can complete work alone.

Answer : A, B and C complete the work in 1 day = 1 / 40

A and B complete the work in 1 day = 1 / 60

C complete work alone = 1 /40 – 1 / 60 = 1 / 120 minutes = 120 minutes.

in example 3 why 2/15 will comes on 15/2

if Subir can do piece of work in n days, then subir 1 day’s work 1 / n.

similarly subir and kabir work done by 1 days ( 1 / 20 + 1 / 12 ) = 2 / 15.

15 / 2 comes because if subir 1 days work = 1 / n, then subir finish work in n days .

thats why it 15 / 2 both person work days

Questions

Please

Sunil, in that case we use the formula…

1 = n(1/a+1/b) + x(1/a)

We will try to make sure n(1/a+1/b) is 1 itself…

If not, then we add x(1/a) to the equation as remainder work which person A does alone at last day.

Solution will be (2n+x) days.

For example, if A takes 24 days, and B takes 12 days to complete a work, and they do alternate days, we will use (1/24 + 1/12) to arrive at 1/8.

1= n (1/8) + x (1/24)

We can see that if we make n as 8, we can maximise it and make x zero.

1= 8(1/8) + 0(1/24)

=8(1/8)

So, 2n+x = 2×8 + 0 = 16 days is answer, assuming A started the work first.

ya its good .we need alternative day questions

b’coz 2/15 is a work done by them in one day but we need total work of them so 2/15 is one day work than total work is 15/2

In example 1 1/50-1/60=1/300 how?

pls explain 1 of the any of the the example in details.

(1×6/50×6)-(1×5/60×5)=(6-5)/300=1/300(take LCM)

Yes you are right the ans should be 300 mins. The person who has updated this site might have forgotten to take the reciprocal…I hope i was able to help you.

A alone can complete a work in 16 days and B alone in 12 days.Starting with A,they work on alternate days.The total work will be completed in :

let total work=lcm of16,12=48 units

one day work of a=48/16=3 units

one day work of b=48/12=4 units

total units of work=3+4=7

to do 48 units of work days required=48*2/7=13.7 aprox 14 days

50 men can complete the work in 100 days.In how many days the work will be completed if 10 men joined after every 10 day.

Sir plz solve and explain this question.

Plz sir send difficult question with solution b’coz I face problem to solve difficult questions

1/20-1/60=0.033333 in first example how it is 30min

1/20-1/60 =

3/60 – 1/60 = 2/60

=1/30

This is the contribution, not time. To get time, we reverse its fraction.

1/30 is made 30/1 = 30 minutes

vishal :- 1/20 – 1/60

6 – 2 / 120 = 4 /120 = 30 min

IN EXAMPLE 11-) please explain sir,

How many more women need the complete work in 5 days ?

75-25=50

How is it possible sir, more means plus symbol then we add only 75+25=100.

please clear this doubt

Pls change the bCkground theme..

The page is not clear …
